An advanced and comprehensive professional program extending over 6 months (180 hours of total study load), aimed at preparing and qualifying international arbitrators, mediators, and legal advisers who are proficient in the mechanisms and procedures for resolving and settling international commercial and investment disputes. The program combines in-depth legal knowledge with practical moot simulations of arbitration and mediation procedures, from drafting agreements through to the enforcement of awards.

2. Program Objectives:

  •         Mastering the drafting of arbitration and mediation clauses and agreements: acquiring proficiency in precise legal drafting of arbitration agreements and dispute-resolution clauses in accordance with UNCITRAL rules and institutional systems.
  •         Professional competence in managing arbitral proceedings: understanding procedures for constituting arbitral tribunals, managing hearings and deadlines, evidence, examination of witnesses and experts, and interim and conservatory measures.
  •         Drafting submissions and arbitral awards: acquiring skills in preparing statements of claim and statements of defense, reasoning and issuing arbitral awards, and procedures for setting aside awards.
  •         Enforcement of awards and international mediation: understanding mechanisms for the recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards under the New York Convention, and managing international mediation and dispute settlement under the Singapore Convention on Mediation.

  •         Assessment system: participation and continuous assignments, case studies, moot simulations, final examination, and graduation project.

  •         Final project: managing a complete hypothetical international arbitration case file, from drafting the arbitration clause and request for arbitration through to oral pleadings and preparing a draft award or settlement agreement.
