Professional Diploma for Shadow Teacher Preparation

1. Program Overview:

An applied professional and qualifying program extending over 3 months (80 hours of approved study load), aimed at preparing and qualifying teachers and specialized assistants to accompany and support children with special needs within inclusive educational environments. The program focuses on behavior modification strategies, the preparation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), the development of academic skills and executive functions, and the facilitation of comprehensive school inclusion.

2. Key Objectives:

  •         Understanding the concepts and roles of the Shadow Teacher: understanding the nature of special education and the psychological and developmental characteristics of children with special needs.

  •         Mastering behavior modification and classroom management: applying the latest scientific strategies for managing undesirable behaviors and creating a stimulating classroom environment.

  •         Designing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): acquiring practical skills for setting educational objectives, conducting accurate observation, and writing periodic reports.

  •         Promoting independence and school inclusion: developing executive functions and effective communication, and strengthening productive cooperation among the Shadow Teacher, classroom teacher, and family.

3. Target Audience:

  •         Teachers and specialists wishing to work as a "Shadow Teacher".

  •         Graduates of faculties/programs of Education, Special Education, Psychology, and Psychological Counseling.

  •         Mothers and fathers of children with special needs seeking to acquire skills in follow-up and inclusion.

  •         Professionals working in day-care centers, inclusive schools, and rehabilitation institutions.

4. Training Program Modules (12 Interactive and Applied Modules):

1. Introduction to Special Education and the Role of the Shadow Teacher.

2. Identifying the Categories of Special Education.

3. Psychological Development and Characteristics of Children with Special Needs.

4. Behavior Modification and Classroom Management.

5. Effective Communication Skills with the Child.

6. Development of Academic Skills.

7. Development of Executive Functions and Independence.

8. School Inclusion and Cooperation with the Work Team.

9. Preparation and Implementation of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

10. Observation, Assessment, and Report Preparation.

5. Program Data and Organizational Assessment:

  •         Field and specialization: Special Education / Shadow Teacher Preparation (Teacher Shadow).

  •         Duration and sessions: 3 months (evening period) | 25 lectures (two lectures per week, two hours per lecture).

  •         Distribution of credit hours (80 hours):

·         50 hours: interactive live online lectures.

·         20 hours: required and independent readings.

·         7 hours: chapter questions and self-assessment.

·         3 hours: final review and completion examination.

  •         Assessment system: assignments, case studies, and an attendance rate of no less than 75%.

  •         Final project: an online assessment test (25 multiple-choice questions + 5 applied practical case questions).
