Professional Diploma in Fundamentals of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy CBT

1. Program Overview:

A specialized professional and applied program extending over 3 months (80 hours of approved study load), aimed at providing participants with the theoretical foundations and applied clinical skills of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). The program focuses on the steps of assessment and diagnosis, building the therapeutic alliance, modifying automatic thoughts and core beliefs, and applying behavioral activation, exposure, and problem-solving techniques, together with case formulation and the application of therapeutic protocols to different disorders.


2. Key Objectives:

  •         Understanding the cognitive and behavioral foundations: understanding the theoretical models of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, building the therapeutic relationship, and structuring sessions.

  •         Mastering cognitive and behavioral techniques: training in behavioral activation techniques, exposure and confronting avoidance, and identifying and modifying automatic thoughts, intermediate beliefs, and core beliefs.

  •         Clinical application to psychological disorders: acquiring practical CBT skills in the treatment of depression, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, psychological trauma, and personality disorders.

  •         Mastering case formulation and applications across age groups: developing competence in preparing cognitive case formulation (Case Conceptualization) and applying skills with children and adolescents.

3. Target Audience:

  •         Psychologists, clinical psychologists, and psychological counselors.

  •         Psychiatrists and practitioners working in counseling centers and psychological clinics.

  •         Students and graduates of Psychology, Medicine, Social Sciences, and Psychological Counseling programs.

1. Introduction to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Its Theoretical Foundations.

2. Clinical Assessment, Therapeutic Relationship, and Session Structure.

3. Behavioral Activation and Behavior Change Techniques.

4. Exposure Techniques and Confronting Avoidance.

5. Identifying and Modifying Automatic Thoughts.

6. Intermediate Beliefs and Core Beliefs.

7. Behavioral Experiments and Experiential Techniques.

8. Problem-Solving and Skills Development.

9. CBT Applications in Depression and Anxiety Disorders.

10. CBT Applications in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and Psychological Trauma.

11. CBT Applications in Personality Disorders and with Children and Adolescents.

12. Case Formulation and Clinical Integration.


5. Program Data and Organizational Assessment:

  •         Field and specialization: Psychology / Clinical Psychology / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

  •         Duration and sessions: 3 months (evening period) | from 20 to 25 lectures (two lectures per week, two hours per lecture).

  •         Distribution of credit hours (80 hours):

·         50 hours: interactive live lectures (remote / online).

·         20 hours: required and independent readings.

·         7 hours: chapter questions and self-assessment.

·         3 hours: final review and completion examination.

  •         Attendance and assessment requirements: an attendance rate of no less than 75% of the lectures, in addition to assignments and periodic assessments.

  •         Final project: an online assessment test (25 multiple-choice questions + 5 clinical case-study questions).
