Professional Diploma in International Sports Law and Sports Arbitration

1. Program Overview:

An advanced and specialized annual professional diploma program extending over one academic year (two semesters | 30 credit hours | 120 direct training hours), aimed at preparing and qualifying lawyers, legal advisers, and sports administrators who are proficient in the rules and regulations governing international sport, professional and transfer contracts, and litigation and arbitration procedures before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and international federations such as FIFA and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

2. Program Objectives:

  •         Understanding the legal and institutional system of sport: understanding the legal structures of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), international sports federations, FIFA regulations, and continental federations.
  •         Professional competence in drafting sports contracts and sports marketing: mastering the drafting of professional contracts for players and coaches, player-agent regulations, broadcasting and sponsorship rights, and sports governance.
  •         Mastering sports arbitration procedures before CAS: practical training in the requirements and procedures of arbitration and appeals against decisions of sports bodies before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
  •         Protecting integrity and human rights in sport: studying anti-doping issues, disciplinary procedures, match-fixing, and human rights in the sports environment.

  •         Lawyers and legal advisers in sports clubs, federations, and Olympic committees.
  •         Accredited and prospective agents and intermediaries for players and coaches.
  •         Officials responsible for marketing, investment, sponsorship, and sports broadcasting in sports institutions and companies.

6. Quick Organizational Data:

  •         Duration and training load: one academic year (two semesters) | 60 lectures (120 direct training hours) | 30 credit hours.
  •         Delivery mode: interactive online (two lectures per week, two hours per lecture) + applied workshops and a moot court.
  •         Language of study: Arabic with the use of English terminology and references.
  •         Assessment system: participation, assignments and case studies, sports arbitration moot court, final examination, and project discussion.

  •         Final project: preparation of a complete hypothetical case file before CAS or the design of a package of professional, transfer, sponsorship, and sports broadcasting contracts, including risk analysis and dispute resolution.
