Field and Subfield: Journalism and Media / Fieldwork and News Coverage
1. Program Overview:
An integrated professional and applied program extending over 3 months (80 accredited study-load hours), aimed at qualifying and training journalistic and field correspondents in the latest skills and techniques of live news coverage and reporting events from the heart of the scene. The program covers the duties and roles of the field correspondent; building and documenting source networks; on-camera stand-up techniques (Stand-up) and body language in the field; writing fast and concise news messages; live broadcasting and live-report skills (Live Report) and coordination with the newsroom; managing quick interviews under pressure; coverage in conflict and crisis zones; technical preparation (microphone, earpiece, and broadcast connection); mobile-correspondent techniques; in addition to personal-safety protocols, risk management, and professional ethics.
2. Key Objectives:
- Understanding the duties of the television correspondent and building sources: Understanding the fieldwork environment, mechanisms for rapid information verification, and building a reliable and sustainable network of sources.
- Mastering field presentation and on-camera stand-ups: Training in Stand-up skills and controlling body movement and emotions to suit the nature and developments of the field event.
- Professional live coverage and live broadcasting (Live): Mastering organized improvisation, formulating concise news messages, and managing direct dialogue with the news anchor, studio team, and newsroom.
- Handling crisis environments and emergency events: Managing quick interviews with officials and witnesses under pressure and applying field-safety and security plans in hot zones.
- Technical application and mobile journalism (Mojo): Handling field technical equipment and using smartphone technologies to produce and broadcast immediate news messages for digital platforms.

5. Organizational Structure and Assessment System:
- Duration and Schedule: 3 months (evening period), at a rate of two lectures per week, two hours per lecture = 25 lectures / 50 direct interactive hours.
- Training Language and Delivery Method: Arabic language | Fully online interactive and applied training (Online).
- Distribution of Accredited Hours (80 total hours):
50 hours: Direct and interactive online lectures.
20 hours: Practical applications and simulations of field reports.
7 hours: Analysis and review of the performance and models of international correspondents.
3 hours: Evaluation and discussion of field coverage and graduation projects.
- Assessment System and Attendance Requirements: Attendance of no less than 75% of lectures, with continuous assessment based on assignments, filmed field applications, and periodic examinations.
- Certificate and Graduation Project: The graduate is awarded the Professional Diploma in TV Correspondent Preparation after completing the final graduation project based on filming and presenting a complete simulation of a live news report (Live Stand-up) from the field to cover a breaking event.
