Specialized Diploma in Gut Health Nutrition

1. Program Overview:
An accredited professional and applied program extending over 3 months (80 hours of approved study load), aimed at qualifying nutrition specialists and healthcare practitioners to acquire a deep and comprehensive understanding of gastrointestinal functions and microbiome science (Microbiome). The program covers the mechanisms of digestion and nutrient absorption, intestinal permeability, bacterial balance and its role in chronic and immune diseases, the Gut-Brain Axis, gastrointestinal disorders such as IBS, SIBO, and GERD, and food sensitivities, through to designing therapeutic dietary plans and elimination diets and using probiotics and herbs that support gastrointestinal health.
2. Key Objectives:
- Understanding digestive physiology and the microbiome: understanding the functions of the gastrointestinal organs, enzymes, hormones, and the roles of gut bacteria in enhancing metabolism and regulating inflammation.
- Mastering nutritional assessment of gut disorders: diagnosing and managing bacterial imbalance (Dysbiosis), intestinal permeability, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO).
- Designing therapeutic dietary interventions and plans: developing customized Gut-Healing Meal Plans, such as the Elimination Diet and GAPS Diet, and using prebiotics and fermented foods.
- Understanding biological links between the gut and other body systems: studying the effects of gut health on mental health, the thyroid gland, hormonal balance, and weight management, and practicing mindfulness and stress-reduction protocols.

5. Organizational Structure and Assessment System:
- Duration and sessions: 3 months (evening period), at a rate of two lectures per week, two hours per lecture.
- Language of study and delivery method: Arabic and English | fully remote interactive training (Online).
- Distribution of credit hours (80 hours):
50 hours: live and interactive online lectures.
20 hours: required and open readings.
7 hours: chapter questions and self-assessment.
3 hours: final review and program completion examination.
- Attendance and assessment requirements: attendance of no less than 75% of the lectures, and completion of periodic assignments and examinations.
- Certificate and final project: the graduate is awarded a Diploma in Therapeutic Nutrition (Gut Health Nutrition) after passing the final online examination consisting of 25 multiple-choice questions + 5 practical and applied case questions.
