Department of Information Technology — Software Testing and Quality Assurance

1. Program Overview:

An advanced and comprehensive professional program extending over 6 months (160 hours of approved study load), aimed at preparing and qualifying Software QA/QC Engineers who possess the practical skills required to test and assure the quality of software systems. The program covers the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), test case design, Manual & Automation Testing, API & Database Testing, performance and security testing, defect management, and continuous integration (CI/CD).

2. Key Objectives:

  • Understanding the foundations and methodologies of software testing: understanding the software development and testing life cycles, and analyzing requirements from a quality perspective to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Mastering the design and documentation of test scenarios: professionally writing and designing Test Cases & Test Plans, carrying out manual testing, and managing and tracking defects.
  • Mastering automated testing and API testing: using modern Automation Testing tools to test user interfaces, databases, and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).
  • Performance testing and continuous integration: conducting performance, load, and reliability testing, basic security testing, and integrating continuous testing within production pipelines and CI/CD.

3. Target Audience:

  • Beginners and individuals wishing to begin a fast-growing and in-demand career path as Software Testers / QA Engineers.
  • Developers and programmers seeking to deepen their knowledge of automation mechanisms and the quality assurance of code and systems.
  • Students and graduates of Computer Science, Information Systems, and Software Engineering programs.
  • Software project managers and digital product managers interested in quality and reliability standards.

4. Study Plan Modules (15 Interactive and Applied Modules):

1. Introduction to Software Testing and Quality Assurance (QA vs QC).

2. Software Development and Testing Life Cycles (SDLC & STLC).

3. Requirements Analysis and Identification of Acceptance Criteria from a Testing Perspective.

4. Test Case Design and Testing Techniques (Test Design Techniques).

5. Manual Testing and Test Management and Execution (Manual Testing).

6. User Interface and User Experience Testing (UI/UX Testing).

7. Database and API Testing (Database & API Testing).

8. Performance and Reliability Testing (Performance & Load Testing).

9. Basic Security Testing and Vulnerability Detection (Security Testing).

11. Software Test Automation (Test Automation).

12. Continuous Testing and Integration with CI/CD (Continuous Testing).

13. Testing Tools, Quality Management, and Task Automation.

14. Preparation of Test Reports and Quality Measurement Indicators (QA Metrics & Reporting).

15. Final Software Testing Project.

5. Program Data and Organizational Assessment:

  • Field and subfield: Information Technology / Software Testing.
  • Duration and sessions: 6 months (evening period) | 50 lectures (two lectures per week, two hours per lecture = 100 direct training hours).
  • Distribution of credit hours (160 total hours):

100 hours: interactive live lectures (remote / online).

40 hours: required readings and open resources.

15 hours: chapter questions and self-assessment.

5 hours: final review and completion examination.

  • Attendance and assessment requirements: an attendance rate of no less than 75% of the interactive lectures, in addition to assignments and practical reports.
  • Final project: an online assessment test (25 multiple-choice questions + 5 practical case questions), in addition to implementing a comprehensive and integrated testing plan for a real software system and submitting the final quality report.
