Department of Computer Engineering and Information Security — Cybersecurity Engineering and Systems Protection

 

1. Program Overview:

An advanced and comprehensive specialized program extending over 12 months (290 hours of approved study load), aimed at preparing and qualifying cybersecurity engineers and cyber defense and offense analysts with the highest level of field competence. The program covers network, systems, and database security engineering; advanced cryptography; penetration testing and vulnerability assessment; malware analysis; Security Operations Center (SOC) management and SIEM systems; digital forensics and incident response; and cloud computing and Internet of Things (IoT) security.


2. Key Objectives:

  • Infrastructure and network security engineering: designing and securing enterprise networks, operating systems, databases, and software applications.
  • Mastering offensive operations and penetration testing: conducting comprehensive Penetration Testing, identifying security vulnerabilities, and analyzing and engineering malware.
  • Professional competence in defensive operations and SOCs: operating and managing Security Operations Centers (SOCs), monitoring threats using SIEM systems, and managing incident response and digital forensics (DFIR).
  • Securing modern systems and security governance: applying cloud security strategies, embedded systems and IoT security, risk management, and the development of institutional security policies.

5. Program Data and Organizational Assessment:

  • Field and subfield: Computer Engineering and Information Security / Cybersecurity Engineering and Systems Protection.
  • Duration and sessions: 12 months (evening period) | 90 lectures (two lectures per week, two hours per lecture = 180 direct training hours).
  • Distribution of credit hours (290 total hours):

180 hours: interactive live lectures (remote / online).

70 hours: required readings and open resources.

30 hours: chapter questions and self-assessment.

10 hours: final review and completion examination.

  • Attendance and assessment requirements: an attendance rate of no less than 75% of the interactive lectures, in addition to assignments and practical exercises.
  • Final project: an online assessment test (25 multiple-choice questions + 5 practical case questions), in addition to implementing and submitting a comprehensive applied cybersecurity engineering project.
