Public Health Nutritionist Diploma

 

Field and Subfield: Nutrition Sciences / Health Sciences

 

1. Program Overview:

An accredited professional and applied program extending over 3 months (80 hours of approved study load), aimed at preparing and qualifying nutrition specialists and public health professionals to design, manage, and evaluate community-based and preventive nutrition programs. The program covers the foundations and approaches of public health, assessment of health and nutritional needs, nutritional epidemiology and assessment methods, nutrition across different stages of life, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of community nutrition programs, nutrition education and counseling strategies, and the application of behavioral theories and the Behavior Change Wheel (BCW) methodology to improve targeted health behaviors in the community.


2. Key Objectives:

  • Understanding the foundations of public health and community nutrition: understanding public health approaches, assessing population health and well-being needs, and applying the foundations of community nutrition.
  • Mastering nutritional epidemiological methods and assessments: applying different dietary assessment methods and studying epidemiological indicators and the distribution of dietary patterns.
  • Planning, managing, and monitoring nutrition programs: designing and planning community nutrition programs, implementing them, and managing monitoring, evaluation, and follow-up processes (Monitoring & Evaluation).
  • Applying behavioral sciences and nutrition education: using nutrition counseling and education skills, behavioral theories such as the Health Belief Model and Theory of Planned Behavior, and the Behavior Change Wheel methodology (BCW / COM-B).

  • Professionals working in public health sectors, prevention programs, and relief and community health organizations.
  • Supervisors and planners of health programs and those interested in health education and food policies.
  • Graduates and students of Nutrition, Public Health, Medicine, Nursing, and Health Sciences.

5. Organizational Structure and Assessment System:

  • Duration and sessions: 3 months (evening period), at a rate of two lectures per week, two hours per lecture.
  • Language of study and delivery method: Arabic and English | fully remote interactive training (Online).
  • Distribution of credit hours (80 hours):
  • 50 hours: live and interactive online lectures.
  • 20 hours: required and open readings.
  • 7 hours: chapter questions and self-assessment.
  • 3 hours: final review and program completion examination.
  • Attendance and assessment requirements: attendance of no less than 75% of the lectures, and completion of periodic assignments and tasks.
  • Certificate and graduation project: the graduate is awarded a Diploma in Therapeutic Nutrition (Public Health Nutritionist) after passing the final online examination consisting of 25 multiple-choice questions + 5 practical and applied case questions.
